When Katelyn Keese was in high school in Poolesville, Maryland, she owes much of her success to her involvement in organized sports. Katelyn Keese participated in soccer, basketball and lacrosse throughout her high school career. She always rose to the top in each sport and became captain or the most valued player by her junior and senior years. Katelyn Keese felt a sense of community, team work and the healthy release of physical activity as a member of these sports teams.

Katelyn Keese was the type of student and team player that teachers and coaches recognize immediately. She was always energetic on the field or court and exuded confidence even while she was learning. Katelyn Keese was a natural leader and was made captain of her varsity soccer, lacrosse and basketball teams. It takes a certain kind of person to be able to handle the responsibility of being captain, and Katelyn Keese was always comfortable in that role.
